馬英九總統率團訪問友邦多明尼加，於當地時間13日上午(台北時間13日晚間)會晤多明尼加總統梅迪納(Danilo Medina)，並獲頒多國最崇高的勳章。總統感到十分榮耀，也強調未來雙方將在現有基礎上持續合作，讓邦誼更加穩固。
總統13日一早先向多明尼加國父銅像獻花，接著參訪特殊兒童整合照顧中心，之後則前往多明尼加總統府，與多國總統梅迪納會晤，現場則有盛大隆重的軍禮歡迎。
在兩國總統會談後，梅迪納親自頒授多國最崇高的「開國元勳杜華德、桑契斯及梅亞大十字金質勳章」給馬總統，感謝他對兩國邦誼的貢獻。
總統則表示，他以虔誠、謙卑的心情接受這個勳章，也更彰顯出未來兩國合作將在現有的基礎上繼續往前邁進。總統：『(原音)這份殊榮不僅彰顯貴我兩國政府與人民間的深厚情誼，更象徵今後不論遭遇多大挑戰，兩國都將團結合作，在既有的基礎上攜手並進。』
總統表示，多明尼加是重要友邦，彼此邦誼超過70年，近年來，雙邊合作涵蓋職業訓練、殘障福利、社會治安及中小企業輔導，推展順利、成效卓著，受到多國政府和人民肯定，他也感到與有榮焉。
