外傳國民黨總統參選人洪秀柱請出「昔日恩師」、考試院前院長關中出馬操盤選戰，且關中系統全面動員，子弟兵將全力投入選戰「挺柱」。對此，洪秀柱20日指出，「他們都在幫忙」，並表示競選架構會一一公布。關中同日則說，不可能出面擔任什麼職務，但會盡黨員應盡的義務支持，私下的幫助一定會。
媒體19日報導指出，洪秀柱兩周前已拜會關中，且獲得應允幫忙。洪秀柱同時向關中借將，包括國民黨前大陸事務部主任桂宏誠、立委吳育昇、林鴻池等關中子弟兵，均會全力輔選；報導還披露，國民黨智庫執行長尹啟銘，可能擔任洪競選總部主委或總幹事。
針對上述消息，出席國民黨19屆中央評議委員第3次會議的洪秀柱回應，「他們都在幫忙」，大家不要太重視形式，競選架構會一一公布；她還表示，關中是她的老長官，平常就不斷通電話、見面，不是為了選舉。
